Internships

We are excited to offer post-graduate students the opportunity to kick-start their careers. Through our internship program, you will learn the day-to-day of mining from one of the top PGM and gold producers in the world. Our internship program is open to post-graduate candidates who have obtained a bachelor’s degree in business, electrical and mechanical mining, metallurgy, rock engineering, survey, and finance.

Requirements:

Applicants must be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the relevant Gold One Occupational Health Care Centre
By submitting their CV’s, applicants are consenting to the Company’s assessment and interview process
Preference will be given to applicants from local community/labour sending areas and children/dependants of deceased employees who meet the internship requirements

Learnership

In South Africa, we offer learnerships to employees interested in a full-time study of the mining business as well as technical and vocational skills training at our expense to community members through educational programs and instruction offered at the Gold One Academy, a large in-house campus located on the West Rand. We believe in skills-based education and are proud to mentor each class of learners. Our work-based program is designed to teach learners skills and expose them to workplace experiences that will allow them to advance in their careers while also working to complete their educational qualification.

Requirements
Applicants must have a Grade 9 or equivalent NQF Level 1 Educational Certificate, with Mathematics and English Communication, in order to be accepted onto the Rock Breaker Learnership
Applicants must be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the relevant Gold One Occupational Health Care Centre
Pre-screening and psychometric evaluation may form part of the selection process. All applicants will be subject to clearance screening by the South African Police Services as required by the National Explosives Act. Short listed candidates will be requested to attend a panel interview. Applicants who receive no response to their applications within 14 days after the closing date, may consider their application for the Learnership to be unsuccessful. Preference will be given to applicants who have more than six months previous mining experience in the production environment of a mine

Bursaries

We award a limited number of bursaries each year to candidates to study for a bachelor’s degree at a South African university. Our competitive bursaries help prepare students for work and advance to senior level roles quickly. We are proud to offer students the opportunity to begin their career with us and believe in education to enhance workplace readiness.

Requirements
South African citizens and under or turning the age of 21 during their first year of study (applicants for first year of undergraduate study) and under or turning (or have been under the age of, or turned) the age of 23 during their second year of study (applicants for second and subsequent years of undergraduate study)
Studying or intention to study full-time towards a degree at a recognized South African university that is acceptable to Gold One
Ability to provide proof of their academic results for grade 11 and progress in grade 12 or alternatively be in possession of a grade 12 exemption certificate with acceptable symbols or tertiary results
Intention to study for a bachelor’s degree full-time commencing in the year after the application is made
Acceptance by the university for the degree course as recorded on the bursary application form.
