Modder East Operations

The Modder East mine is situated directly north of the town of Springs, 30 kilometres east of Johannesburg.  The Modder East mine covers an area of approximately 4,000 ha, and is the first new mine built at the East Rand Basin in 30 years.  The Modder East mine distinguishes itself from most other gold mines in South Africa owing to its shallow depth, i.e. 300 to 500 metres below surface.  We are currently focused on shallower deposits  – Black Reef and UK9A of Kimberley Reef.
